Since ROT was born in 2022, the only intention was to keep Fountain Hills red no matter what. Their own webpage states they were formed to push back on all leftist ideas. They have pushed back so hard that grants were rejected by the ROT majority. One grant included roadway safety and a plan for electric charging stations. Rejected by the ROT majority because it was too woke. This hurts our entire community. We have also spent thousands of our tax dollars defending our own community against ROT lawsuits.
ROT-aligned Allen Skillicorn, who was in the press all the time for his alleged hit and run, sued Fountain Hills. Skillicorn was found to have violated the Fountain Hills ethics code by chasing a code enforcement officer through the streets of Fountain Hills. He was sanctioned. Skillicorn sued our community for allegedly violating his First Amendment rights and the judge threw it out. But we taxpayers had to foot the bill for the defense.
ROT sued Fountain Hills. The political action committee filed incorrect petitions to stop the development at Four Peaks Village. That case, according to records, cost Fountain Hills residents $19,557 to defend. The judge threw out the case.
This was also when Gerry Friedel, Allen Skillicorn and Hannah Larrabee voted against defending Fountain Hills in favor of letting ROT sue our community without a defense. Gerry Friedel chose to leave Fountain Hills undefended. But that’s not surprising. Friedel has shown a pattern of attacking Fountain Hills residents and the U.S. constitution through his actions online and at council meetings.
Gerry Friedel recently settled a personal defamation lawsuit filed against him by a private resident of Fountain Hills. Our funds were used to defend and settle it.
ROT’s pattern only proves they care about themselves, not Fountain Hills residents.
